Rhys and family warmly invite you to enjoy a stay at Ty Cerrig, a friendly, family-run CL site on our third-generation working sheep farm near Rhydymain. The site is beautifully situated alongside the Afon Ty Cerrig, with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and countryside.
Located just off the A494, Ty Cerrig offers excellent access and is ideally positioned between the two historic market towns of Bala and Dolgellau, both rich in culture, charm, and leisure opportunities.
Bala (7 miles away) is home to Llyn Tegid, Wales’s largest natural lake, popular for paddleboarding, kayaking, wild swimming, sailing, and fishing. The town itself has a selection of cafes, traditional pubs, local shops, and the Bala Lake Railway, a scenic steam train ride along the lake’s shore.
Dolgellau (7 miles in the other direction) is a beautiful stone-built town at the foot of Cader Idris, a favourite mountain for walkers and hikers of all levels. The town offers boutique shops, cosy cafes, riverside walks, and access to the Mawddach Trail, a flat walking and cycling route that runs all the way to Barmouth along a disused railway line.
A little further afield, Barmouth (18 miles) offers a traditional seaside experience with a wide sandy beach, a picturesque harbour, and panoramic views from the iconic railway bridge or nearby hills.
The site is also served by the T3 public bus, providing connections to all three towns without needing to drive.

Lovely stream side site
Was unsure about this site because it is near the road...however, no need to be. With a disused railway embankment and the sound of the gurgling stream it is an ideal spot. 3 hardstanding, though we went on the grass. A lovely welcome and lots of room. Lovely walks straight from the site. All in all a perfect CL
perfect site
this site was perfect for my 4 day stay hiking, running & MTB. Rhys was really welcoming & the site is so quiet & peaceful next to a beautiful stream. Site is clean as is the shower & a big high five for recycling, some still don't. The wi-fi is good & another bonus is you get to see the RAF low flying jets above whilst eating breakfast! Myfanwy's blackcurrant jam is fantastic too! Will stay again, one of the best CL sites I've stayed at, thank you 5*
There's a welcome in the valley
There's a saying; "Life is all about peaks and valleys. For every valley, there will be a peak," Well this site comes closes to being the peak of perfection as far as CL sites go. We're touring Wales (4 months so far) and this is the prettiest yet. The relaxing rustic charm of a working farm only enhances the experience. Even the chore of emptying the chemical waste has you accompanied by friendly inquisitive chickens. Rhys and Myfanwy couldn't do enough for us. If you "Love a bit of cake" as Matt Lucas use too then Myfanwy can bake you up a storm to rival Bake off at very reasonable prices. In short a site not to be missed.
Wonderful peaceful stay
Had a lovely 1 night stay here. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. Yes there is only 1 shower room but it was a very nice hot shower and very clean. The grounds are kept immaculate and it was very peaceful. Will definitely be returning, added the site to my favourites list.
Beautiful, tranquil spot
Lovely stay for two nights here, a beautiful spot. Parked up looking down the valley at Cadair Idris. Sat outside our camper van watching sun go down over the hill opposite, next to the lambs in field. Quiet spot with lovely walks nearby. Friendly and helpful owner gave us walking suggestions and her local knowledge made sure we didn’t drive up to Cregennan Lakes the wrong way in our camper. We will be back!
A stunning site
What can I say but…Wow! Ty Cerrig is an amazing site. The fabulous views are 360 degrees round and up to the hills in the distance which you can walk miles of directly from the camp site. There is a picturesque river that runs through the edge of the site that is very relaxing to listen to as well. The access is easy from the A494 but once you are on the site you barely notice the road which runs past and the traffic noise is minimal. We had a lovely greeting from Myfanwy who was a fantastic host, even treating us to her homemade scones and jam. She is very friendly and advised us of places to visit and things to see, nothing was too much trouble. We highly recommend this site and will be back again to visit. Stunning CL site
Lovely site with stunning views. We were made to feel very welcome. Very clean and tidy with great recycling facilities. Loved watching the swallows flying around. Lots of local walks from the site. Will definitely be coming again.
My favourite campsite ever
We come here every year on our anniversary and for the price it is excellent value. We get to wake up in the morning and see the beautiful hills and countryside out of our window. There’s so much to do nearby and after a busy day we get to come back to a peaceful and clean site with good facilities to rest up. There’s hard standing and grass pitches with water and electric so you have all you need. Myfanwy is so welcoming and available for anything additional you may need. This site is well worth a visit. We love it and will continue to come every year.
Peaceful and scenic
Lovely rural site for a restful and quiet five days in February. The site was easy to find off the main road and had everything we needed - EHU, tap on pitch, good recycling facilities and access to a shower and toilet. Warm welcome from Myfanwy and John who gave us useful advice on walks in the area. There are plenty of places to walk directly from the campsite - mainly kept our dog on a lead because of the sheep. It is a working farm so we enjoyed the sounds of the hens, sheep and sheepdogs at a distance and loved listening to the owls in the woods at night. Didn’t want to leave as it has been a great place to get away from it all (and we were lucky with the weather).

From Dolgellau (approximately 7.5 miles):
Follow the A494 eastbound towards Bala for around 7.5 miles.
Take a right turn over the bridge, signposted.
From Bala (approximately 10 miles):
Follow the A494 westbound towards Dolgellau for approximately 10 miles. After passing the Old Coaching Inn on your right, take the next left over the bridge, signposted.
After Turning Off the A494: Continue a short distance along the lane. Pass through the disused railway embankment.
Turn left up a slight ramp and over the second bridge.
Ty Cerrig CL is on the left-hand side, just after the bridge and cattle grid.
