Second Visit
Second visit to this lovely peaceful site. New owners now but the site remains one of our favourites. Aaron and Sarah could not have been more accommodating. The site is very well placed for visiting both Norfolk and Suffolk as well as Norwich being only a few miles away. We will definitely return and can't wait.
Lovely countryside location, easy to get the bus to Norwich
We received a warm welcome from the new owner. It was a nice big, level field with EHU, water & somewhere to empty the chemical toilet. Easy to get the bus into Norwich.
Lovely site/ great location
We booked this site because we wanted an area with lots of things to see and do within driving distance, and also public transport to Norwich- it didn’t disappoint. The site itself has the basics, but is a lovely CL in a beautiful village setting. The new owners are friendly and helpful. The bus to Norwich stops at the end of there drive and takes under 15 mins to the main bus station, we went in a couple of times for a shop and pub lunch ( last bus back was about 6.15pm) we also took a day boat out on the Broads from Wroxham about 25 mins drive - this was great fun. £50 for 2 hours. We also had a nice walk around Whitlingham little Broad which is 15 mins drive away. At the end of the day it was nice to come back to our van and sit in the sun in a lovely setting with a cold beer!
All the benefits of a basic CL
We stayed with our caravan outfit Thursday to Monday over the early May Bank Holiday weekend. And this was for our nephews Wedding and Reception and next day BBQ nearby just over a mile away. As keen walkers we did a lot of walking from this site. The new owners have moved in recently to take advantage of the space that goes with the whole site. Sarah and her family are busy but find the time to meet and greet with friendly conversation. The CL is situated in one of the fields at the rear. You have complete freedom to pitch up on the grass site. There are trees to give shade in the summer, but you may need a longer lead if using the EHU. Only one hardstanding which is concrete, and may not be suitable to pitch awnings etc. But this is primarily a grass site. Slightly undulating but plenty of room to get your outfit level. Foul water goes into an old toilet in the shed and is easy to use. This is a no frills CL but you are rewarded with peace and quiet in a charming village. When waking to/from the site there are a few pavements which quickly disappear. A walk down to the River Yare is about a mile away. Choose your walking route for quiet lanes. The Wherrymans Way runs beside the River and is most pleasant but eroded in places. The Ferry House pub beside the river at Surlingham is popular and we used it for a drink on a circular walk. We will certainly be back when visiting our nephew ☺️
Peaceful Stay
We very much enjoyed our brief 2-night stay at Grange Farm Barns this week. This is a very peaceful site and was perfectly situated for our trip into Norwich. As already stated the turn into the site is quite tight, so take care negotiating the turn in. We took new Owner Sarah's advice to eat at the nearby Waters Edge PH and enjoyed a very nice evening meal, looking out over the river. Although we drove down due to my reduced mobility, it would be a lovely walk for those more able. There is a bus into Norwich which stops outside the site - we used the Park and Ride (Thickthorn) which was ideal for our needs with plenty of parking space for our large Motorhome. There are no toilet or shower facilities on this site, however for folks who have these facilities on board, as we have, there isn't a problem and the peaceful situation more than makes up for this. We wish Sarah and her lovely family all the luck in the world with their new venture, I'm sure we will be back!
An Idyll by the Broads
We made a booking to stay at Grange Farm Barns, James advised he would be on holiday but a family member would welcome us. We arrived & pitched, the choice was ours as we were the only ones to stay, and WOW what a gem of a place. Next day we were greeted by Ellie, nothing was to much trouble. She provided us with a much welcome information sheet of the area, pubs, buses etc. The site has a large lawn area with EHU along one side. A wooded area opposite, but not close enough to throw shade, and an orchard at the other end. The site is very convenient for getting into Norwich with the bus stopping outside the drive. Lots to do in the area, a long circular but worthwhile walk from the site takes you to the broads where there is a pub serving food.
A truly beautiful and peaceful place to stay.
We stayed here for 7 nights and we would have stayed here much longer if we could. It is truly beautiful here. The site is very well maintained and James welcomed us and gave us some local information which was much appreciated. The pitch we chose was surrounded by a beautiful meadow which we really enjoyed and we were free to site the caravan in the direction we chose. It is worth mentioning that the position of this site relative to occupied buildings gave us a feeling of security. This site is well positioned as a base for exploring the broads and we visited some wonderful gardens and riverside pubs in the area. We tend to explore different areas with each outing but if I was to return to this area, I would certainly stay here again. Thank you James and Sam.
One of the best CL sites we have ever stayed on in 20 years of caravanning.
What a great site, beautiful setting very peaceful . Well kept lawns and pitches with plenty of room. We walked into Norwich and bused back after exploring. The bus will stop right outside the site .Easy walk to local pubs and the owner even gave a leaflet with things to do including a map to help us find our way and bus time table. Lots of wild life on site squirrels, muntjac deer, rabbits, a mole that put in an appearance one morning and all sorts of birds. I would not hesitate to visit again. Take your time when entering the site as it can be a little tight but no problem if you take it slow. One of the best CLS we have stayed on in 20 years of caravanning.
A beautiful and peaceful setting
This very quickly became one of our favourites. James has created a real haven of woodland tranquillity which has a real charm. Our pitch was nestled between two horse chestnut trees and the occasional chicken, rabbit and squirrel visitor was very welcome. It was lovely to hear the birds on waking in the morning. We had a lovely walk to the riverside pub and a very easy bus trip into Norwich which is a beautiful city. We will definitely be back!
