Reviews

Peaceful site

We stayed here to visit the cathedral in Ripon. The site is so picturesque with fabulous views over the Yorkshire countryside. The last couple of miles to the site are narrow for a 8ft twin axle caravan but was ok just taking it easy. The site is slightly sloping but our pitch was ok. Catherine greeted us when we arrived and is a very pleasant lady. The site has a portaloo wc is absolutely amazing so clean and spacious, I’ve never seen such a brilliant site loo!! We didn’t make it to Galpay with the local pub so we will have to visit again Lovely CL great value great location.

Still simply fabulous

On 26 August 2025 I wrote “Really can’t add anything to the string of five star reviews. Everything about this CL is simply fabulous. Very happy to add our five star review.” We are just home after a week at West Leas, the site is back in the bucket. Catherine and Steve are fabulous, they are quietly around, there to help if you need any. If you are there right now, June 25, you might be first to use the fabulous new loo. On our final night an impolite gentleman turned up. Catherine really cared about our experience and dealt with the gentleman. Did I say it was fabulous! “Fab, five star”. Thank you, we hope to be back soon. Geoff Cutts

Hidden Gem

Lovely stay here for 10 days safter Easter. Scenic, quiet pitches. lovely sunsets. Well maintained. (WiFi bonus). Each pitch is located (it seems) where the best level is to be found. We didnt have to use wheel blocks at all, just literally a small adjustment back to front. The grass was really well draining so no issues with mud and it survived cars driving on and off site well. Toilet on site is a helpful addition. Helpful information hub. Friendly owners. Access is easy. We used the Ripon to Kirkby Malzeard Road which is the preferable route for towing. We would suggest a little google maps check for route if you don't know Ripon as its necessary to navigate through town to reach the road. It's an idea location as accessible to many tourist venues. Travelled surprisingly few miles the whole holiday during the stay - bonus! We will return! Loved it here!

Quiet and peaceful

Stayed for 6 nights in April, David and Steve were very welcoming suggesting places to visit. The site is well drained with the best views from the top of field and the bonus of free WiFi on the pitch. Very handy for visits to Fountains Abbey, Brimham rocks and various pubs. The druids temple near Swinton is well worth a visit. Would definitely use the site again if in the area.

Nice place, no fuss

Nice place for a rest. Clean and tidy. Dark at night. Friendly owner. Unable to locate password for wifi and electric hookup did trip most mornings. Apart from that, worth a stay.

A perfect site to visit Nidderdale

This is a beautiful site well place in Nidderdale. We were greeted by Mrs Raw who was very friendly and made us welcome. All the standard facilities are available close to the pitches and there is a toilet and information point as well All the pitches have great views into the countryside. There's loads to do in the area. Would recommend the Nidderdale Museum on Pately Bridge We will be back

Simply fabulous.

Really can’t add anything to the string of five star reviews. Everything about this CL is simply fabulous. Very happy to add our five star review.

Great site peaceful !

Fantastic site peace & quiet fantastic location. We stayed for 1 week in July. Good location for Ripon & surrounding area. Owners very helpful advising some great places to visit.

Very peaceful and scenic

The campsite is in a very peaceful spot and the views are fabulous. The area is called Windy Ridge and we now know why it's called that - we were there during a very windy evening on the first night! We fortunately managed to park behind some bushes before moving to another spot on day 2 when things were calmer. There is a single basic WC but it was relatively clean. We would like to return at some stage.

Peace and Quiet

We recently stayed at West Leas CL site. A thoughtfully laid out site that contains a chemical disposal point, refuse bins, water point and electrical hook up. A friendly owner and a warm welcome on arrival from Steve with good information about the area and footpaths through the fields to the two villages. The views, peace and quiet are perfect for a relaxed away from it all break, with the added bonus of two villages within walking distance offering pub, fish & chip shop and groceries also a convenient cafe on the road just to Kirkby Malzeard. Highly recommended and will re-visit.
