Great little CL with lovely new owners
Second visit here, which was as just as good as the first. There was a brief moment of panic when I discovered 48 hours before we set out that the site had changed hands, but I need not have worried. The new owners are just as friendly and welcoming as the previous occupants; I understand the handover wasn't the smoothest and there have been the odd teething trouble, but honestly Nick and Sue couldn't have been more accommodating, even hand delivering some important mail to my caravan along with a delivery of fresh eggs..now that's service! The site itself is set up well with hard standings, and it is near to a plethora of great beaches, especially lifeguard-patrolled Newgale, which is great for body boarding. It's also within shouting distance of some grand castles of significant historical interest, and near to some superb attractions for the kids (Folly farm a particular favourite). You can get some lovely cakes at Hilton gardens, excellent fish and chips at the local Murco garage and there's a fine Sunday carvery down the road at the Rising Sun. There's all the supermarkets you need in Haverfordwest, which is less than 5 miles away. For balance, although the site is generally peaceful, if you go in the school holidays, you'll get children playing outside as you might expect, so it's not totally silent, and there is some faint noise from the adjacent campsite at Simpson Farm, though not enough to be any kind of problem. Nick tells me that he has some improvements planned which will make this place pretty unbeatable. All in all, an excellent CL, highly recommended.
This is a lovely site which is immaculately kept. The views from all of the hard pitches are superb. We received a warm welcome from Nick and Sue, and they were more than willing to offer their support and advise throughout our week long stay. The site is reflected very well in the photographs on this page and when the sun is out you couldn't wish to be anywhere better. The pitches have plenty of room for awnings and BBQ's etc and are separated by small shrubs which add to the privacy. You do need transport to access nearby villages and coastal walks, but this site is situated very close to plenty of them to choose from. Our only disappointment was discovering the excellent Victoria Inn real ale pub on our last night!!!! We are confident that you will also enjoy this site.
This is an excellent CL. We've stayed at many CL sites over the years and this is one of the best. Very well kept and lovely views across the local farmland. The owners, Nick and Sue, were very welcoming. In term of things to do, the site is very well located. We visited St Davids a couple of times and Fishguard. Haverfordwest is about 4 miles away and convenient for the supermarkets. We visited St David's and took an evening boat trip around Ramsey Island and the North Bishops to see the sea birds and seals which was great. We also used the coastal Puffin bus service a couple of times to explore different sections of the coast path. The nearest beach is Nolton Haven which is about a 10 min drive. This is a beautiful quiet cove and free car parking. The Puffin bus stops here. We used this to go to Solva and then do the 7.5 mile walk back to Nolton and to St. Martins Haven which is 14 miles back to Nolton. St Martins is also the access point for boats to Skomer. We also cycled along the Brunel Trail which is a 9 mile route mainly following the line of an old railway. We opted for this as the cycling was a lot easier than on the local roads. Although these are very quiet and good for cycling, the countryside is very undulating with a number of 1:5 to 1:7 hills especially if you head down to the coast. We loved our week at Simpsons Hill Farm and will use this as a base again in the future
Thank goodness I never saw the warning until after I had visited the site. I could’ve lost out otherwise!. I have to say I found the comments rather strange as I found the site as described. The new owners had said all bookings are previously made would be honoured. The views and that says the beauty spots are excellent with shopping facilities not far away.
Wow a hidden Gem! The best CL we have ever stayed on.
We were a little apprehensive after reading a previous review as we were booked to stay here for May half term. We spoke to the friendly new owners who reassured us that all bookings made were being honoured. The site is still very much open. The owner explained that they need to be assessed by the caravan club as ‘new owners’. Hence the temporary freeze on new bookings until this has occurred. This site is gorgeous. All pitches are hard standings with planting between pitches overlooking lovely views. Each pitch has its own pitch light, electric hook up and plenty of room. There is an information ‘shed’ with leaflets etc, as well as chemical toilet and fresh / grey water points and recycling points. The site is well located to visit and explore the local area - a holiday highlight was Newgale beach and Hilton Court gardens just up the road. We have loved our stay here. The owners were friendly and welcoming. We’ll definitely be back again. It is by far the best CL we have visited. Excellent value for money. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
